House construction costs in 2024, 2025, or not at all?

Did you study with BaFög? I did, and if you’re supposed to cover your rent and all your expenses with it, you are out of luck. I worked three small jobs during my studies, received BaFög, AND my mother supported me wherever she could. And my rent wasn’t even in a big city. If you want to pay your rent and living expenses in a big city (where the universities are, after all), BaFög alone won’t be enough.
And even if the OP didn’t work during their studies, that’s still a respectable achievement. Back then, my jobs did lower my grade point average a bit. If someone values top grades, such a degree program is definitely a time-consuming pursuit.
It wasn’t my intention to attack you, but this constant judgmental attitude on the internet is getting on my nerves. Belittling other people’s achievements without having walked a meter in their shoes is simply not the done thing.

Well... €10,000 Bafög means getting at least 20k.
Additionally, 40k borrowed...

That makes about 2,000 net expenses per month (assuming 5 years of study).

But of course, there are also studies abroad, private universities, etc.

Do I have a flaw in my thinking? 60k/5/12 equals exactly 1k for me? But to be honest, I don't really know how Bafög etc. exactly works.

Yes. You did a great job. Satisfied? I’m fed up with the judgment rally in the other direction. Everyone whose parents had enough money to support them during their studies seems to have to constantly apologize for having it so unbelievably easy... blah blah...

Then you can move away from the whining again. Because banks, construction companies, municipalities... I... unfortunately don’t care that someone had it harder than others. They care about the money you have and the money you still earn. Quite simply.

Out of the current 5,900 net, at least 2,500 EUR every month must go into repaying the land and building assets, better 3,000.

They don't need to be interested in that either. But you don't have to kick people who had it (subjectively) harder even further by baselessly accusing them of having spent too much money.

All good, I don’t think discussing it anymore will bring much now. What I can still say about it: Both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees were completed within the standard period of study, and parallel to that, I worked as a working student on a 20-hour basis during my master’s studies. The time really didn’t allow for more, and as already said, with just Bafög I wouldn’t have made it through these five years at all. But you also have to say that I did my bachelor’s degree at a private university of applied sciences with monthly tuition fees, because at that time I didn’t have a particularly good high school diploma and was accordingly rejected by universities. The dream I had back then, to study for a good job, could therefore only be realized with a student loan. During the master’s program, I then reduced the payout amount accordingly, but still had costs for accommodation/housing. In hindsight, I would still do it the same way given my situation back then – through my master’s degree and the working student job the door to my current job opened, and I still absolutely enjoy it.

Anyway, that’s just on this point. I am well aware that banks do not care about the past and look at my current figures, but I find this judgmental attitude nowadays difficult. At the same time, I’m happy for all kids from good families and also don’t think they have to apologize for anything. In the end, one person just has a bit more luck than another, but that’s life. Nevertheless, we will still hold on to our dream of building a house for now, and if in 2025/2026 it’s only 110 sqm, then so be it – and if it ends up not being a new build at all, we’ll just take one more vacation in the future. :)
