We have just decided on Gutshofdielen. They write on their homepage:

"The forestry and sawmill business Hegener-Hachmann has been family-owned on Gut Hanxleden for four generations. In addition to traditional agriculture and forestry, the sawmill has also been operated here from the very beginning.

Following the motto 'Improving quality of life, naturally through and with wood!' we manufacture solid wood floors from native woods under the brand name 'Gutshofdiele.'

Especially from regional oak, but also from ash, maple, beech, larch, spruce, and Nobilis, exclusive plank floors for interior use are produced in an elaborate production process. The 'Gutshofdiele' is characterized by its high level of quality and precision fit"...

And:
"Because we do not think and act in short-term periods in managing our own forest, the preservation of the forest and ecological balance is always in focus. For example, round timber is only felled between November and January. During these months, the trees are in a kind of 'winter sleep.' The sap flow is then only minimal. Timber felled during this time is proven to be of particularly high quality."

Our eco-building material store here on site offers this supplier. We have chosen an oak for 59 euros per sqm. For the children's rooms, we are still considering because it is quite expensive...

Have you relied on ecological building materials in the house? If yes, which ones?

Are you asking me now? We only want "plastic-free" floors (wood and either a wool carpet or cork in the bedroom. Children's room either linoleum or cork. Still unsure about that). And on the walls, where possible, lime plaster and on top the appropriate decorative plaster.

We also paid just under 56€ per square meter. At the time, the floor was nowhere to be found for less than 72€ per square meter. With just over 100sqm, we were glad to have gotten it “cheap.”

The texture is amazing when walking on it! I don’t even remember the last time I wore socks in the apartment?!

By the way, choosing parquet was one of the best decisions. Friends advised against it “too sensitive, holes, scratches”... all nonsense. Yes, it has two or three marks but on the one hand they aren’t noticeable and on the other hand the walking feeling is simply awesome.

I never want anything other than a wooden floor again.

How do these two statements fit together? As if linoleum or cork were free of plastics.

Well, it is definitely better than laminate in our eyes

What are you getting at?

We don't really know much about the subject, but if the building material ever needs to be disposed of, we want it to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Hence this selection of floors
