That you emphasize that you want "plastic-free" only to then say that it will either be a plastic floor or a natural floor with plastic binder.

Our eco-shop has the following on the homepage about linoleum: "This natural, elastic floor covering is made, as its name already suggests, besides linseed oil (linum = flax and oleum = oil) from natural resins, wood flour, limestone flour, and color pigments. It is thanks to its natural ingredients that there are no nasty surprises with emitted harmful substances such as formaldehyde, solvents, and plasticizers—neither during installation nor in use—and that it additionally has antibacterial and slightly fungicidal effects. It is no coincidence that it is often found in hospitals, medical practices, and similar places. The increased hygiene requirements there are also met by the seamlessness—which, unlike tiles as another wipeable smooth surface, is without joints." I think that already sounds very natural and at the same time nicely robust. Suitable for 4 boys' rooms.

Linoleum is just as much a plastic as PUR and PVC; it is just not made from petroleum but from natural oils. The synthesis is very, very similar for industrial floors. Even though it says so nicely on Wikipedia, nowadays it is produced on a large industrial scale like all other floors and very often comes from Asia. Whether it contains plasticizers, solvents, or whatever, unfortunately no one knows. No matter what kind of pseudo-seal they put on it.

This is not meant to be negative, but unfortunately consumers are deceived everywhere today. Even cork is very often treated with pesticides and fungicides so that it can be sealed with resin (plastic).

On the one we selected it says "ohne Weichmacher, biologisch abbaubar" etc. I would have to check the details. It is a very special one that our anthroposophically inclined eco-floor person sells. I think there are probably differences. It is plastic, of course.

Hello Arifas,

Anthroposophy [emoji4]

So you have Demeter food and Wala/ Dr Hauschka cosmetics, right [emoji4]
And the children are all in the Waldorf school, of course.
Right? I don’t mean that in a mocking way, my wife is similar.

Arifas, don't let yourself be pushed into ridicule. Linoleum is healthy and okay. It is not polyvinyl chloride, and therefore unproblematic to dispose of after years, as it is oil-based. Waldorf and Steiner's philosophy, or rather his view of Christianity, may be a bit eccentric, but the resulting pedagogy is simply humane and good for children.
