We have now been living in the house for 3 weeks, but still without exterior plaster, that will come later when we have money again.
We don't hear anything from outside, but the area we live in is generally quiet. Occasionally a loud motorcycle, sometimes cars, and otherwise only pedestrians and cyclists passing by outside. Inside everything is quiet. What we notice more are the windows compared to the old leaky wooden windows -> you can't hear anything at all when they are closed.

We have a 36 cm wall, you could also take a 42 cm wall if you have concerns about soundproofing. What exactly do you mean then? That you can hear cars from outside through the brick? For example, a dishwasher inside the house is louder than anything you could hear from outside, as long as the windows are closed.

I also think that the problem, if any, is more likely the windows or roller shutter boxes than the bricks.

There are also differences between manufacturers for the T8 and T9. The one from Bellenberg, for example, has a significantly better bulk density and load-bearing capacity than the one from Schlagmann. We also have the T9, and specifically from Bellenberg. And when I look at the webs and the waste on the construction site, I have to say, it hardly crumbles at all. It is very robust! It's different with the T8 from the neighbor... there are break points everywhere in the masonry and their brick is really crumbly.

I doubt that the stone should have the same U-value with filled chambers. The many chambers of the stone serve insulation, closed air layers are one of the best thermal insulations and are accordingly taken into account in the calculation of the stone.

Just take a look at the datasheets of the two stone variants instead of spreading half-knowledge. Then you will see that the U-values are exactly identical...

Hello Wildthing, are you still satisfied with your T9 unfilled in 36.5? We want to take the unfilled T8 from Wienebeger or Schlagmann ...
