Secondly, we want to do something with the ugly wall of this garage so that it looks nice from our side but requires little work. A wooden wall has already been considered, as well as a free-standing trellis that we gradually let grow over. I only have one problem: if it does not cover the wall, do I then have to leave enough distance so that the neighbor can possibly paint his wall if he wants to (which he hasn’t wanted for 25 years now, but who knows…)? That would cost us quite a bit of space again, and we don’t really have that much anyway. Therefore, the idea is a wall that adjoins the garage wall (which, of course, should be done professionally).

Unfortunately, I can't give any tips, but I can empathize with you. It's just shitty when you constantly feel watched and question every step if you're doing something wrong, which of course you're not. Ah, life could be so simple .......
