We also have a holiday home. I find the main focuses are a little different here.
Usually, you go with the whole family or even with friends. It’s good if everyone has their own little bathroom with a shower. Ideally directly by the room, like in a hotel. An additional "guest" toilet, in my opinion, is unnecessary – who is supposed to clean it?
I would design a sauna without a toilet and washbasin, only with showers and a relaxation room. Preferably with seating and a bar.
Thank you very much for the extensive comments!
We had planned the "guest toilet" on the ground floor so that, firstly, there is also a toilet on the ground floor (and you don’t always have to go upstairs, for example in the evening/night when children are sleeping) and secondly so that there is another shower option.. but of course, if we add another bathroom upstairs, we could omit the showers.
Yes, the sauna.. I would do it exactly like that immediately, but the space is limited and the other rooms are somehow more important to us in terms of size.. but we will consider it!
A common room and a large kitchen on the ground floor is nice. In the kitchen we have 2 cooktops and ovens. That has proven very successful. In the dining room there should be space for a long table. Although that is possible here, the furniture is not drawn in. Therefore it is not entirely clear what you plan to do with, for example, the bay window.
Yes exactly, that’s how we planned it too. The long table should start in the bay window and, when extended lengthwise, protrude into the room. There is enough space there, which was important to us. The bay window will then have a folding sliding door so that in summer there is a wide "passage" between outside and inside. Or do you think a sliding door would make more sense?
