No, that is not correct. I am also not a civil servant, nothing with fat pension and allowances. Just a normal employee. Scientist, on the side. My message was also not that we live poorly or are poor. I estimate that I roughly earn in the range of the upper 20% (median). Some households with two earners do not reach that income (especially here in the East). When I recently fed a calculator for income distribution, my household was slightly below the middle of all households in Germany. The message was: house and property are small and standard. I have consciously chosen the luxury item horse (because it has been there from earlier times already!) and cannot fulfill other wishes because the means are limited. Here I have set priorities.
