€5,000 savings in 19 years. With an additional cost of €10,000 compared to a gas heating system...
Any questions?

The heating system cost €14,500 all-inclusive, including installation, etc. No fireplace, no boiler room, only 0.9 square meters of space for the hot water boiler. No gas connection, no chimney sweep, and maintenance-free besides that. The €5,000 refers to an additional heat pump meter. So we don't need to talk about total costs because building a boiler room with a fireplace alone would have more than offset the extra cost compared to gas heating.

Has your electrician ever heard of cascade switching?

My second meter is just being removed. Good deals differ by 1-2 cents between household and heat electricity. Even if it were more, I would need 1500-2000 kWh for the second meter. In a modern house of moderate size and without a daily sauna in the living room, at best you break even. If heat electricity ever comes at industrial electricity prices, I can have a second meter installed again ;)

We deliberately left out the 2nd meter for the pump during the renovation of our house. 1. The 2nd meter costs €130 annual fee 2. There are 3 "blackout hours" per day when the power is cut off. If you happen to have a shower marathon in winter, it gets freezing cold. And nothing is worse than a freezing woman. 3. The difference to regular electricity is 3 cents/kWh

Before I could make calculations and considerations, the decision was taken away from me because my former electricity provider did not offer a separate heat pump tariff. Now I have switched twice already, to be honest, I don’t know if the new one would do it.

You can always learn more.
Cascade switching, never heard of it before.
Thanks for the hint.
At the comparison portal, I currently only find a difference of 2 cents.
My basic supplier increased the household electricity from 0.30 to 0.43 at the beginning of the year and the heat pump electricity from 0.22 to 0.30.
I have canceled both, but I can only get out of the heat pump contract in November.
With a difference of €0.02, the second meter is definitely not worth it. There seem to be significant regional differences after all.
