we have two large dogs and horses, live in the countryside and want 3 children, and have a large family with children who often come to visit.
Needs and habits like these are asked about in the questionnaire. Why do you only mention this in passing?
But why shouldn’t we fulfill our wishes if we can?
I don’t read about any wishes, nor does it look like anything like that has been implemented. The two entrances are one too many, since the same room and floor get soiled.
Since the upper floors might possibly mirror or change based on the staircase and airspace, it doesn’t make sense to me right now to consider the upper floor if the ground floor doesn’t fit yet.
It makes sense to first reveal the site plan, as described in the pinned post, in order to classify the design at all. I don’t see any paddock, so there is no need. Accordingly, I would not see this design as sensible. But even with the mentioned premises, I don’t see any parallels here.
I also find openness very important. But just under 100 sqm with an open “sofa roof” quickly becomes rather uncomfortable. Size is not the same as quality. Regarding the noise on the upper floor and the corresponding unrest in the children’s rooms, something has already been said many times here about the airspace.
I think the ground floor is so large and bloated because you plan a huge surplus of living space for the upper floor. I would mix up the grid a bit and, for example, move the parent’s area downstairs.
The oversized hallway and the common room provide enough sqm to accommodate the parent or guest area (2-3 times a year I would even put guests in a hotel) on the ground floor.
thus there are quite a few trades that we can almost completely cover ourselves and through our families and close friends.
Uh, sorry, but self-performed work through close friends or family quickly becomes a planning mistake: on the one hand, for warranty there needs to be a normal and correct craftsman invoice, where you won’t save anything, and on the other hand, friendly services can often not be called on at the time they are needed. I would also see it as upside down if a monstrous house (including horse stable) is built with the help of friends – that can quickly be seen as exploitation or overreach toward the same.
Personally, I would gladly help my brother paint his Flair 109, but if my sister expects me to lay the parquet in her 350 sqm villa, then she has miscalculated. She can give up 30 sqm. But I will not give up my free time and regeneration because of extravagance.
