Hello Chris,
we started the same way about 1 1/2 years ago. We also looked at Massa Haus, BöStein, Fischer Bau, Nurda, Helma, Hannover Haus and all the others. With many construction companies, you need a plot of land because they don't provide them. With Fischer Bau, they offered us some because they had bought some plots and then sold land + house directly.
We happened to come across a gap in the building and got it, and then only planned and built the house with Fischer. Currently, 70% is finished. So far, we are very satisfied with them...
In Hannover, there is regularly a fair on the subject of building. We took away quite a bit from it. I can definitely recommend that... Otherwise, scour various ads, magazines, internet platforms for plots of land.
The problem is, if you buy land + house from one provider, you pay real estate transfer tax on both land AND house. If you already have a plot of land and then have a house built by a general contractor, the taxes only apply to the land.
