I was just surprised by your choice of words, the general contractor said that with your construction method you don’t need a controlled residential ventilation system. That made me suspicious because the controlled residential ventilation system only has a limited connection to the construction method – nowadays everyone has to build at least according to the Energy Saving Ordinance anyway. And you don’t need a controlled residential ventilation system, you either want it or you don’t. And there are your own reasons for that. I wouldn’t let the general contractor tell me whether I want a ventilation system or not.
Otherwise, I find the argumentation hard to understand as well. I currently live in a rental house built in 1994, and the controlled residential ventilation system is for us the main reason to build new. In this house, I fight with nothing as often and as consistently as with the damn indoor air. Having to constantly fully ventilate everything by shock ventilation is disgusting. After 10 years here, we've tried everything. In the summer, it’s either stuffy or full of insects. In the bathroom, I have to shock ventilate for 10 minutes after showering (I don’t even want to start with bathing) EVERY single day, otherwise I can buy the anti-mold spray by subscription. In those 10 minutes, I either stand bored in the bedroom and scroll through a blue social network, or I get lazy and put the window on tilt, but then at the next corner friend mold is already waving hello again. It’s really enough to make you scream. I don’t even want to start on heating the air out the window.
