This is because all surfaces have fairly even temperatures and there are no cold radiation sources like windows, etc. As a result, there is also less convection and draft. Overall, it is simply more comfortable.

Sorry, your question somehow slipped my mind. But DerBjoern was kind enough to provide the correct answer

What is meant by the "cold radiation sources like windows"? We are not living in an old building, the house was built in 2014 and the windows are double-glazed. You also have windows in new buildings, right? So far, only double glazing is planned there.

By the way, the thermal protection report is now here. Unfortunately, I don't fully understand it. The conclusion states that
- gas condensing boiler with 300l hot water storage
- solar thermal system with 8m2 collector area
- double-glazed windows
- wall construction - 17.5cm calcium silicate brick, 8cm mineral wool, air layer and facing brick

are sufficient. At least we don’t need a heat pump.

Is the investment in triple-glazed windows worth it? Does it bring a comfort gain or is it just energy-saving?

Hello,

I no longer want to miss our triple-glazed windows.

Especially the last few days with up to 36° C have shown us that a building with these windows, despite an almost "perfect" southern orientation, does not heat up nearly as much as with double-glazed windows – which we had in our previous apartment (built in 2000).

Regards,

Dirk

That is certainly true. Our rooms heat up significantly from the sun. But you also have to consider the location of the house from Panama: from my memory, it is not oriented to the south. We have double glazing, Kfw 70 with gas solar and controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery (without noise )

It is not possible to generalize about the glazing (double or triple) – it depends on the overall Ug value of the windows. And there are very good double-glazed windows that significantly outperform poor triple-glazed windows in terms of U-value.

In addition, with triple-glazed windows you have more problems regarding heat buildup – simple tinting or blinds may not be possible or only possible to a limited extent.

But regarding Panorama: 8 cm of mineral wool as insulation is very little – did you only calculate based on the Minimal Energy Saving Ordinance 2014? I would invest a bit more... it does not cost that much but does make a difference.

Why "as long as it’s not a heat pump"? Are you so against it?
