400 sqm is quite a number. That's a basketball court. In hot summers, the lawn needs about 15 l/sqm two or three times a week. You can figure out how much water is needed for that. Some users here have installed irrigation systems and might be able to say exactly how much this costs per year.

Yes, that's why we're looking for an economical system, and supposedly the honeycomb fleece saves 50-70% water. Underground drip irrigation is basically not a new system, but combined with storage fleece it apparently is.

I'm surprised that some users here write that you don't need to water your lawn at all?

No, if it is a drought-resistant lawn, then not (even the normal lawn needs water at most once a week – if you water more, then only for the appearance, but not because the lawn needs it).

yes, well, for me it is about the appearance. The lawn should also look nice in summer.

Then buy artificial turf. It always looks green and is easier to dispose of in case of a change of mind than buried, rooted, brittle plastic mats. Sandy soil will absorb large amounts of water despite the mat because it simply lacks the storage mass. Sometimes I wonder how far one can distance themselves from nature to fight against nature for a certain garden look in the year 2024.

That is option A. Option B is endless water... Nowadays I find option B - whether with fleece or not - absolutely outdated. P.S. There is also option C. Liquid Green or similar products.
