People talk about "beautiful" without defining it more precisely. Most of the time, such statements also reveal a lack of knowledge about the alternatives. The neighbor has only a green desert; at my place, daisies and crocuses are currently sprouting. And soon, all the other little flowers will follow. People are influenced by pictures in corresponding magazines, garden exhibitions, and city parks. Everywhere it looks like a golf course. You should always ask yourself whether that really corresponds to what you want yourself.
Exactly. But you also have to consider how you want to use the garden. For example, we often sit on the lawn (we have lightweight garden furniture that can be rearranged depending on warmth and sun; I have a couch standing under the lilac on the lawn). I lie down on a blanket on the lawn. I love walking barefoot over a lawn. Neither a wildflower meadow nor taller-growing plants of any kind really fit that. Since we also have sandy soil, there is a compromise: a short lawn with various weeds. It is watered in summer from our own well. At least in the front part of the garden, where we usually stay. In the back, it can grow taller or become drier.
