Floor-to-ceiling windows or double-wing door with French balcony?

I only clean 1 window 10 times a year, that is the [Terrassen Tür].

Otherwise, in the upper floor we have a floor-to-ceiling window in every room, but for thermal reasons, I would only install normal ones from now on, but nice and wide, so that the roof overhang keeps the sun away from above without having to darken the room.

I'm thinking in this direction again right now.

In the old rental apartment, we also had floor-to-ceiling windows, but the lower half was completely opaque. The reason for this became clear to me. No matter what, it was always cold down there next to the sofa, so a blanket had to be used from autumn to spring. New buildings are certainly insulated, but a window is always colder than a wall. Regardless of whether it is option A or B, as soon as something stands in front or you don’t want to look out (or others in) permanently, then a classic window.

Yes, in principle, more window area through greater width allows more light to enter than increasing height. However, in the situation shown in picture A, there is no room for more width because of the roller shutter box, and windows with a slanted upper edge are more complicated and expensive to darken.

Do you find that a lot or a little? I clean when I think it’s necessary. For example, I see that the east side is much "dirtier," it rarely rains there, and that’s why pollen settles much more in spring. The kitchen also "needs" it more than, for example, the living room.

If there is space, I would agree with : always wide rather than tall windows. Because of the greater height of the light incidence, the light simply penetrates further into the room.

We have exactly for the reasons that I don't like it when you can just look into the bedroom, dressing room and bathroom upstairs have normal windows, behind which I simply feel more secure, cozier ... in the office and children's room there is a normal window and a floor-to-ceiling one with a French balcony ... I think it looks great from the outside and the location was planned so that hopefully no bed or table has to be placed in front of it
