Good morning!

The floor plan of our house is finalized for the most part, and now we are looking for useful and practical ideas that could still be considered for the floor plan. So far, we have planned, for example:

- a laundry chute in the bathroom on the upper floor, through which laundry can be transported directly to the utility room

- wall recesses as storage space behind the washbasins and the toilet as well as in the showers

- a niche in the hallway for the wardrobe and a shoe rack

Do you have any other practical ideas that we could/should consider?

Many thanks in advance for your tips!

Best regards, Timo

Show your floor plan and we might be able to help. Without an initial floor plan, generic tips won’t do you any good, that would be piecemeal.

I don’t like shelves behind sinks. The mirror is then so far away if the sink has a normal depth. But I am only 1.64 meters tall.

How can it be set when you are still dealing with these things? Here, for example, an optimal solution would be a utility room on the upper floor for washing. These are not wall projections, but the installation walls. Among other things, they also take up space again. Or you can deepen and/or lengthen them where it fits. Therefore, they should (also) be planned aesthetically. It is best not to plan a niche, but rather a free wall that may be somewhat longer or even a whole closet, so that one can no longer speak of a niche. Nevertheless: all three components influence the floor plan so that the design can only develop _with_ the “ideas”.

But only if you don't want to hang the laundry outside to dry. Otherwise, you have to carry the clean wet laundry downstairs, which is more inconvenient than taking the dirty laundry down. I would never recommend that.
