Hello,

I would definitely have the attic insulated.

Our (planned - construction start 03/2014) house also has an attic with about 55 sqm floor area ([DIN area approx. 22 sqm]).

According to the construction service description, the ceiling between the top floor and attic is standardly insulated.

The additional cost for insulating the roof from the ceiling of the top floor/attic up to under the ridge is just EUR 1,800.00 for us.

In my opinion, that is definitely a sensible investment.

We will do the "finishing" of the attic ourselves (installing finishing boards or possibly also a wooden paneling) - the attic is only intended as additional storage space.

Regards,

Dirk

But that is no longer how things are built nowadays... at least there is an underlay membrane and that already makes a big difference...
