Floor plan for single-family house - no special features?

Where is north?

You run into the wall at the staircase (no matter how long it is). Or should it have a quarter turn at the bottom?

Yes, it is SweetHome3D. And yes, it is supposed to have quarter-round molding at the bottom. I don't think I can represent that with the program, can I?

On the top floor right, I would move the door around the corner. Depending on how you plan the roof, you basically enter the room in front of the slope. I find it more practical to enter rooms looking into the light, basically towards the window. The corner back there can certainly be planned and furnished better later without a door.

So I would rather choose a 1/2 spiral staircase for a more square house with the small footprint and orient it something like that... Provided the south is at the top? Although in that case I would even mirror the house and perhaps place the kitchen more in the west...
