Then I want to start working on a new plan for the attic now. I did some calculations and 30 degrees should actually be enough.
This is what I imagine now:
- On top of the ground floor, I add a knee wall of 0.5 m.
- At a 30-degree pitch, I reach a height of 0.5 m after 0.86 m and a height of 1.5 m after a total of 2.6 m.
- Because of the knee wall, I have a ceiling height of 1 m after 0.86 m and a ceiling height of 2 m after a total of 2.6 m.
- The floor plan from above has inner dimensions (i.e. excluding the exterior walls) of 10 m x 11 m.
- I place the gable roof on the shorter side of 10 m.
- That leaves 4.8 m with a ceiling height above 2 m.

From that, I then create the following rooms:

I don’t consider the area under 1 m. Area between 1 m and 2 m counts as 50% living space. That would give me two fairly large rooms and a bathroom.
Is this doable? Am I overlooking something crucial? Or are there other suggestions for improvement?
How the whole thing looks from the outside is also a matter of opinion. A shallow gable roof on an almost square ground floor is rather unusual in this region. Or is that still okay?
It would roughly look like this:
