You build a house for several hundred thousand and see what comes out in the end and whether you like it or not? I would like your attitude :p

If you want to do something nice for your children later, get yourself headphones for watching TV :-) No joke. Greetings from the suffering child who couldn't sleep when the TV was on...

Okay, then I probably have to express myself better. As I said, we have thought about it and are positively inclined towards our ideas. What I meant was rather whether we will actually have the experience others in the thread are talking about in the end. We cannot foresee that now and have to/can only see once we are in the house whether the critically mentioned points occur. We really like the floor plan and are extremely excited about the implementation, please don’t misunderstand. :) I don’t see it as critically, since I have acquaintances in the area who also have a very open layout. I haven’t heard anything in that direction from them so far.

Very few describe disadvantages of their own expensive house to relatives or friends. You have convinced them, shown it to friends, are proud and want to be praised. Few later talk about the missing 50,000€ that were still provided by grandma.

Basically, one does not speak badly of their own status - that would be the crux.

I often read in some FB groups about identified disadvantages, which are generally mentioned in advance as must-haves. Most are quite honest here as well – if you don’t want to listen, you have to feel it, my dad always said

You are probably right about that, depending on whether they are good friends or acquaintances. But basically, it is definitely harder to admit mistakes, let alone share them with others.

Of course we have to live with it in the end, and as I already said, I am glad about the opinions that were shared with me. We discussed many of the mentioned points and decided on our idea. That was ultimately the intention of the thread. :)

A characteristic I have never been able to appreciate much. Assuming one acts according to the best knowledge, there is nothing wrong with admitting mistakes. This applies both to the profession and to house building.
And already twice among relatives or friends.
