The windows actually seem to be placed completely arbitrarily. It looks as if no window is like another. Even windows that could be the same are different. Who messed something like this up?

Definitely shorten the house, then remove the storage room upstairs. Leave the roof terrace as well. That will save you a considerable amount on the garage roof. I would also skip the steps into the living area. If there’s ever a party at your place, one or the other will surely come flying down in a big leap because you just don’t expect it. The area is already nicely separated like that. Four square meters would be completely sufficient for the pantry. Then you can fit a freezer in there and store a few things. I would only save sparingly on the kitchen. Especially there, you spend a lot of time and then get annoyed by half measures.

Hello Gnome,

I find the garage a bit short in relation to the house. For example, my Mini is 4m long, so with the vehicle next to the door to the house, there would only be a total of 75 cm left in front of and behind the vehicle. That is more than impractical.
In the basement, I would swap the office with a hobby room, and I would also connect the utility room directly to the hallway so that you have to open as few doors as possible, possibly with a full laundry basket.
I find the kitchen-dining area impractical for the huge size. The area between the pantry-dining table-stairs cannot be used at all. There isn’t even space for a sideboard.
Also, personally, the master bathroom on the upper floor is way too big for me. You have to heat and clean it too, and I think 15 sqm would be comfortable enough here.

Well, the window sizes truly look like a clearance sale stew. The two different levels of the living area are nonsense, in several ways: firstly, it makes the generosity of the large surface dimensions absurd when you then step down into the living area like into a small swimming pool. And secondly, it barely alleviates from the outside that the house appears propped up on the terrace side. You can only be grateful that the budget planning still questioned this design.

The house is simply oversized in several places and therefore expensive. The planner's cost estimate is clearly a joke ...

Some "expert" estimates are an argument for reviving the tradition of the pillory :-)
