We purchased a new apartment still under construction, although the construction was already well advanced at the time of purchase. In the bathroom, the developer had planned a washbasin with a floor-standing base cabinet.
Now, as a layperson, I am wondering whether a furniture washbasin with a "floating" vanity cabinet (60cm) could alternatively be mounted on the pictured wall or the protrusion (see image) where the washbasin would be placed?
A Geberit mounting element was installed in the protrusion, where the original washbasin would have been attached. Can this also support the furniture washbasin and vanity cabinet, or would the wall protrusion have needed to be prepared differently from the outset? In the additional offer, the sanitary company only stated that "no additional preparations for mounting were made, as the choice of vanity cabinet was only made after the rough installation. Therefore, the cabinet will be mounted on drywall." I am now wondering whether this is even possible, and whether it would be secure/stable?
