I moved with my IKEA kitchen and some things need to be changed. For the wall solution in the countertop area, I ordered the PERSONLIG custom panels. Unfortunately, I lack a proper solution for the countertop here. I would like to use finishing strips into which the panel can be inserted. At the same time, these finishing strips also seal. I do not want to work with silicone and the cheap base protection strips don’t appeal to me either. I have already seen with some kitchen models (not IKEA) that such profiles exist, even in several thicknesses, 16mm and 19mm are apparently standard. But where can you get something like that? Obviously not at IKEA. I find that a shame because IKEA has such nice solutions and then in such small details they really botch it.

Do you have a solution?

Then you probably have to buy where you saw these parts or get a recommendation from person X where they bought them. It shouldn’t be that hard.

IKEA has only purchased a certain share of Personlig from the manufacturers. Not in terms of quantity but in terms of the selection of decors, no matching wall finishing strips etc. More simply costs more, i.e., if they offer 20 panel decors to choose from, they also have to have the material for that, whether it is used or not. So it comes down to mixed calculation and Personlig becomes more expensive overall. Buyers don’t want that either. So just buy accessories from elsewhere exceptionally ;) and that’s it.

Good idea Nayla, I have been trying that all along. Unfortunately, no one wants to order such a strip, let alone have it in stock anywhere.

I just find it sad these days. You want to buy something, wait for weeks, then it’s delivered wrong, and it takes weeks again until the right part arrives. Then the range of certain items is unsatisfactory, like suitable strips for such a wall panel. And once again, you are stuck in the hamster wheel.

This is not a criticism of Ikea itself but a general criticism regarding the fundamental behavior of the entire furniture industry. What I have experienced in this respect in the last few months due to my move is hair-raising. I would spend more money if I could get some parts at all within an acceptable time. Well, of course, that’s one way to destroy the economy in the long run. It strongly reminds me of the GDR.

I just wanted to check here if anyone has managed to get such a strip anywhere.

edit:
Well, I am totally disappointed. The delivered boards are warped. On a length of 1.20 m, there is a 3-4 mm difference. The boards wobble on the wall. Sticking them firmly doesn’t help.

Today’s negative outcomes:
Toilet seat unpacked for 80 euros, has a defect (Bauhaus)
Wall panels for kitchen warped (Ikea)

The best thing is to craft something out of orange crates, then you don’t have to get annoyed.

No, they are not warped, but in general they are a bit crooked. Get yourself a good wall adhesive that is also suitable for the panels. Don’t hesitate to spend a bit more money and buy a decent one. Then it will work with the panels. Only apply the wall adhesive at the corners and silicone roughly over the middle area, then it will work with the panels.

They are "crooked" because the plastic coating does not expand as much as the metal. That’s why it bends. You can order 50 and they will all be a bit "crooked."
