This general statement is just as nonsense as saying in general that you have to start with three, four, or five percent repayment.

And furthermore: If you have read carefully, you also know that the OP wants to build a two-family house with one rented unit. So there are entirely different considerations and pitfalls (especially tax-related) involved.

No, as long as it’s 5 years and no repayment at all. Inflation does the job
