There is always a residual risk, especially with a long term. In my opinion, there is no advantage (paid off later & rent-free - improvement in quality of life, already after moving into your own four walls) without a disadvantage (financing risk), but I completely understand that you can sensibly minimize the risk with flexible repayment, even if you may pay a bit more for it (longer interest payments due to low repayment).

I meant giving it up only in case of unemployment. Then you can not only reduce the installment but also save costs (just deregistering it is enough).
