I don’t find the whole thing very well thought out. Maybe one should consider whether less is actually more. I also grew up in such a miniature wet cell thing without windows (there was also a regular bathroom). I found it quite comfortable: but it’s not exactly nice. After a thorough shower, you’re half suffocated in that little room and despite the ventilation system you had to leave the door open at first. BUT: it’s an old farmhouse after all. If you’re already making the effort of a renovation, such a room would be an absolute no-go. But if you absolutely insist on it, I would even remove the cloakroom and include the space.

And after the shower, wet footprints can be found on the way to the toilet.

I fear that the chalet won't work out. From the outside, maybe with a lot of imagination, but not from the inside.

Do the parents-in-law even want the renovation, or is it just reluctant approval out of necessity? The floor plan downstairs no longer fits either. Huge useless staircase in the apartment. Every small overbuild makes it dark.

oh yes,

will the staircase in the middle of the house then be completely dismantled? (also at your parents-in-law's)

have you ever considered simply adding another floor?

The parents-in-law want it. Well. Renovation is significantly cheaper than new construction. Here, a small plot costs as much as the renovation. What improvement suggestions would there be? Not everything is "shitty" either.

yes, we have. But it doesn't work out with the eaves, so that the distance to the neighbors can be maintained.

Have you considered actually using the children's bathroom, the WC, and the planned wardrobe as one room? You could then install a window to the hallway (next to the office) and at least wouldn't have a pitch-dark "bathroom."

The living-dining-kitchen area is quite large with 51 sqm, so you could pull the kitchen wall in a bit and then have a wardrobe area.
