Hello everyone,

our foundation slab is in place and all the soil is currently piled at the back part of the property. We want to level the garden or the entire property up to the terrace and should now clarify the amount of soil needed. Our neighbors would take any soil that is not needed. We have roughly estimated about 60 cubic meters of excavation and about 15 cubic meters of topsoil.

Questions now:

[*]About 20cm of topsoil is spread? 30cm where perennials will be planted?
[*]The excavation would be piled up to the rough foundation slab level in terms of height, right? Then 20cm of topsoil on top and you would have a level ground to the finished floor (which would be a 16cm build-up on the foundation slab)
[*]What estimated percentage does the piled-up soil lose due to compaction? 15% roughly?

It would be great if someone with experience could help me with this. Then I would be able to better calculate the use of the soil.

Anything else important I might have forgotten?

Many thanks

I personally find that too little. We filled about 30cm of topsoil and are currently planting a hedge. So the 30cm is gone again and the biggest rubbish shows up. I really hope that thing somehow takes root, otherwise a mammoth task awaits us.

Definitely sufficient for lawn. For other things, it could be too tight. And don't fill everything in directly, otherwise it will have to be removed later because of a terrace or similar.

Between 20% and 25% is the range.

also with the bungalow you go one step up from the top edge of the property into the house. Otherwise, after heavy rain, the puddle will be in your living room

There are those drains in front of the patio window for that, right?

Heavy rain is more than the gutter carrying away water, the terrace should also have a slope, everything at the same level won't work well for long

what I want to say,
do not give away any soil yet as long as the property is not finished,
excavation for terrace, paths, cistern and the property height should fit in the end,
in the end we still needed 20 m3 of topsoil
