Wouldn't it be enough to plant the desired plants instead of a fence?
I always enjoy seeing gardens without fences. For me, that means: the neighbors get along with each other and animals – like hedgehogs, for example – can live there well.
But I admit:
That is no answer to the question ;)

Plants obviously grow as they please, and if I have a clear line up to where I can go, then I also know where I have to cut. ^^ Otherwise, I would be afraid that we would keep expanding sideways and that in 10 years there would be trouble and I would have to tear everything out. ;) My parents have that, a property without a fence, and they have been annoyed by it for 40 years. Some trees that then dropped needles on their clothesline, etc. .. I don’t want to be that kind of neighbor for those around me, nor would I tolerate something like that. But I also don’t want to cause stress, so I would like to create facts.

By the way, I received a first offer in the mail this morning. Double rod fence 123cm in anthracite, including installation €6500 gross. That is €72 / meter. Is that usual? Seems more on the upper end of the scale to me, but I don’t have any comparisons yet.

Which thickness of double rod mesh fence? After a conversation with a friend working in garden and landscape construction, I was somewhat enlightened about the price differences. Most use the wire thickness of 6/5/6, which is significantly cheaper than the also available 8/6/8. The quality of the posts also depends on this. To be able to assess the offer, you need to provide a bit more information.

We have now simply put wooden posts next to the neighbor (about 2-3m apart) and stretched chain link between them. Then reed mats in front of that. These double rod mats are personally driving me up the wall. I can understand that people appreciate the combination of being just okay in terms of price and durability, but I have now also decided on a wooden fence towards the street. If I ever win the lottery, I will have a nice wrought iron fence made...

How much does something like that cost?
Setting wooden posts yourself also means you have to make concrete and set the parts straight, right?
