Is it all complicated. How about the combination of a recirculating cooker hood and a decentralized ventilation system? Could the decentralized ventilation system relieve the recirculating cooker hood, which in my opinion is worse compared to the exhaust cooker hood when it comes to removing kitchen odors?

Sure, relief is possible, but why combine two systems here for which there are better alternatives (exhaust for the cooker hood and central controlled residential ventilation)?

We were clearly advised against exhaust air for the extraction hood because we have a central controlled residential ventilation system. That certainly isn’t a "better" alternative? A central controlled residential ventilation system combined with an exhaust air for extraction hood is already a contradiction in itself.

At least this was also confirmed to us by the kitchen builder, as well as the general contractor and ventilation installer.

I think you can’t go wrong with a good recirculation hood – I see it from a friend. He invested money in a Berbel hood and it’s really worth it... You just shouldn’t install "junk." If recirculation – then a proper hood.

Somehow it also seems strange to me to make a hole in the wall when I want a "tight" house – and then also with a ventilation system? Somehow that doesn’t fit together for me.

We are building according to the Energy Saving Ordinance and our contractor also advised us against exhaust air.

After thorough consultation in the kitchen studio, we are also getting a recirculation hood with an activated carbon filter.

We were convinced by it in the kitchen studio, hopefully it will be the same at home :)

The problem with exhaust air – and that is why it is repeatedly discouraged – is that in a very airtight house, a lot of air is expelled outside. You then have to calculate how much air is present in the rooms and how much fresh air the controlled residential ventilation supplies. Only if everything fits does exhaust air become possible. And the hole in the wall is actually not an argument. With a thermal box, the hole is only present in exhaust air operation because only then does the flap open. With a professionally installed thermal box, every house passes the blower door test (at least if there are no other weak points). In addition, all of us probably have significantly larger holes in the house that are regularly opened, as house and terrace doors are nothing else ;)

This is how it was explained to us as well. It was discouraged, but not because it doesn’t work, rather because in connection with a [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] it is very complex and therefore expensive. For example, an automatic window opening would need to be implemented so that a window opens by itself as soon as the exhaust air starts. However, we did not listen to this in detail since we wanted to rely on recirculated air anyway.
