thanks for the info, well those are nice prospects ...

however, we are not lower - with our basement - even 70cm higher than the neighboring house, we are building at different heights because the terrain is on a slope. Our neighbor, however, has excavated, meaning he went deeper than the natural terrain.

I have acquaintances whose second half was also built only after years. They cannot remember that their house was secured in any way during that.

If you have it done professionally and something still happens, who would be responsible then, some kind of insurance?

thanks

Hello,

First of all, the person who took the support measures on the neighboring house and then most likely their insurance if they can be proven at fault.

PS: maybe your acquaintances don’t remember because the measures to be taken were already included in the house price. It is quite certain that they would not have built without them... the responsible building authority would have been involved. The architect and the structural engineer are liable if they neglected the existing property.

Best regards

thank you construction expert, no, my acquaintances are the ones who were first. So if anything, their building partners would have had to underpin the house of my acquaintances. According to their statement, this was not done, but whatever. I have been told several times that you "usually" only have to underpin if the neighboring house does not have a basement. Two out of four BU don't care at all, the others are racking their brains like crazy. I just don't understand it, it feels like we are the odd ones out. Regards Hilaria
