The luxury villa in the countryside also finds its buyers. For such exotic properties, the buyer pool is limited(er), that's just how it is. I would never want to buy such a house in my life. House made of straw bales - am I Heidi or the Alm-Öhi? Only stones count! It's exaggerated, but gets to the point I would therefore also consider an extra discount as a banker.

Banks also have different tastes or worldviews, so - thanks for the hint - instead of I should have written better: "whether your bank is equally open to this type of construction."

Distant relatives have had a house insulated with straw for about 20 years. They seem to be satisfied, I think it has always smelled very strange there and there is a weird indoor climate. Apart from that, I also have the experience that straw eventually molds.

Straw is for the livestock

I would just have concerns. Can it be checked whether the whole thing is properly compressed and also dried? The presses act up from time to time. Sometimes the straw is not properly dry. Who doesn't know that the bale looks quite good from the outside and inside there is mold or some other kind of rot?

I really have concerns about that.

I would look for an experienced company and for builders.

Because of the bank, I'm not worried now. I probably have the appointment on Monday, then I’ll know more about my "creditworthiness."

I have already researched quite a bit and so far have never heard anything about mold or moisture. There is only one case where the wooden walls were manufactured in the factory and already filled with straw and transported to the construction site that way. Unfortunately, it rained during the transport. Then the straw had to be removed on site and fresh straw put into the walls. Bad luck.

I personally know a person who lives in such a house. They are thoroughly enthusiastic. And otherwise, I have so far never read anything bad about straw bale houses anywhere. Sure, the construction has a few disadvantages. But these have been known from the beginning and you can live with them. However, I have never read anywhere that problems occurred during construction or afterwards.

It would be nice if statements like "Straw is for the animals" were omitted and instead solid arguments were provided, so we can keep the discussion factual.

Arguments or 2 points that should be clarified I had also written after the statement "Straw is for the livestock."

It doesn’t matter if the bale is not properly pressed and lies loosely in tangled strings. A rotten, moldy core does not matter there.
