Hello,

we will soon be building our house with a very low heating demand (close to passive house standard). Since we would like to have tiles on the ground floor, we want to install underfloor heating. Our architect has now offered us concrete core activation as a cheaper alternative. Until now, we had never heard of it. Does anyone heat their house this way and can share their experiences?

The heating would be an air-to-water heat pump with [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung], plus a masonry heater.

Look into other threads with the search term "Betonkernaktivierung" (and also "Schwedenplatte"), there you have quite a bit to read ;-)

Mildly put, absolute nonsense in our area.

What do you want in the Near Passive House with two heating systems (air-water heat pump and masonry stove)? If the house is really so well insulated, don't install underfloor heating at all and especially no stove. Simply generate that little heat via air (air-to-air heat pump).

Honestly, I've never really understood what the [Schwedenplatte] saves. €1500 screed or what?

If it's really a passive house, then leave the heating out, save the money. Split air conditioning unit combined with a fully utilized photovoltaic system only.

Thank you. I was missing the term Schwedenplatte. Apparently, the whole thing is supposed to buffer temperature fluctuations much better than underfloor heating. In summer, it also has a cooling effect. Unfortunately, there are two points that are fixed for us. One stove – because we already had one in an apartment building and really miss it – and low-maintenance nonwovens on the ground floor, but please comfortable on the feet. Possibly an electric underfloor heating system would also be suitable for support if we use the stove for more than just ambiance? Thanks for the tip about the split unit, I will take a look. Our architect also mentioned something similar in combination with infrared heaters. There are just too many options...
