Equip lift-and-slide doors with insect protection

That sounds great. First of all, it was important for me to find out that there is even the possibility. The rest will follow later.

I would equip not only the sliding door but also the windows with fly screens. That way, you will be 100% protected.

Roller shutter manufacturers such as Roma offer an integrated solution in the roller shutter box, partially for pulling down and also for retrofitting (which is probably more expensive than ordering it at the same time).

Furthermore, for roller shutters (split into two parts at 3m width), consider whether they should possibly be controlled separately. Then in summer, the fixed element with the roller shutter can be closed, while the door element remains accessible.

Just slide the sliding door. That’s what it was made for. You’ll be cooking inside the place anyway in the summer.

Pleated doors could be used.

Putting that aside, a decent fly screen version really costs money. I believe for our 4.5m lift-and-slide door it was around 500-600€.
