The idea was originally to have the parents' bedroom downstairs... after a few nights we moved upstairs - sleeping on the ground floor just felt weird. Now we have the parents' bedroom in the gym and the gym is planned to be downstairs - but we haven’t gotten that far yet. So far the room is used as storage. Cleaning... I don’t remember that.

Fine, thank you. So basically wall lamps. Are those tiles? Why this shiny strip in the front?

Looks good. Although I'm not a fan of wood. For the handrail, I would probably have chosen stainless steel instead.

Don't scare me, we sleep downstairs as well.

Sleeping downstairs is really just a bungalow thing, otherwise you only rarely do something like that. The two floors are supposed to spatially separate private rooms and living areas. The only pity now is that you basically planned the house wrong. A bathroom on the ground floor that hardly anyone really uses now. Certainly very cool later for older kids or if you often have guests. You could now also put a sauna in the former bedroom and would have a shower right at hand. Only a juicy power connection is missing there.

Does your big wardrobe fit comfortably upstairs too? We had to move walls and so on (because of the chimney) so that the wardrobe really fits neatly. Changing rooms is impossible for us because of the wardrobe.

The peninsula is a 90s cabinet and then the 60s corner - so 1.5 m. It is also used daily by our children (there are often voices saying "you never use it anyway"). As soon as it looks presentable here again, I will gladly post more photos. At the moment paving is being done... it's a different feeling when the house suddenly doesn't stand so prominently on a podium anymore.

Yes - somehow that's true - the planning wasn't quite perfect. But I'm quite glad that I still have a proper storage room downstairs (we don't have a basement). I currently use it as my private bathroom. Upstairs we have a 2.5 m wardrobe - 1.5 m for my wife, one for me. Beds and towels are in the guest room next door. It actually fits very well. Special clothes that you rarely need (winter jackets, evening dresses, etc.) are downstairs - there we have placed 6 m Pax against the wall (you can see it in one of the stairwell photos).

Welcome to the 19th century. And then, at the latest in old age, the big clearing out begins, and if you have planned very poorly, the move to a nursing home.
