Super, thanks, that helps us with the decision. I think we will not expand it for the time being.

We had discussed the 45° wall on the upper floor again, and our planner has now sent us an alternative proposal. With the alternative, however, the hallway would be a bit larger. The positive aspect would be that you would have two equally sized children's rooms facing west. Do you perhaps have any ideas about that?

Your architect did a very good job with that! And just look at the bathrooms in comparison: much more organized downstairs and therefore no dirty corners that are of no use anyway. The skylight will then be above the toilet, perfect for the washbasin

Thank you for the feedback. I’m glad you like the draft so far – I tend to be a bit overcritical. So you prefer the version without the 45° corners? I had some concerns because the hallway looks a bit "twisted" that way – but maybe it won’t seem like that once the walls are up.

I had one more question regarding the windows on the upper floor. Our planner suggested floor-to-ceiling windows with a fixed lower part. Generally, we like that too, but we had now considered choosing a low parapet height of 40 or 50 cm as privacy protection and so you can sit on the windowsill. However, that would mean we’d either need a fall protection – which we actually don’t want – or a small fixed part. Does that look strange? We only saw that once in a model home park, but there the windows were continuously fitted with a very stylishly designed fall protection matching the window frames (which we wouldn’t be able to manage).

We even planned it that way deliberately and highlighted the recess in the hallway with color.

Yes, there was still the window question. I would reconsider the kitchen window on the ground floor and then have a smaller one with a similar shape. The two don’t match well aesthetically. Parapet windows are already drawn in... I would always plan the bedroom on the upper floor with a (masonry) parapet. From an aesthetic point of view, "normal" double windows would also be suitable (east side upper floor). The west side also needs to be looked at more closely overall...

The house is already standing. The outdoor facilities are currently being dug up - I have already posted photos here and there - but more will follow as soon as I can move around the house again. Gebretz is, by the way, my wife.
