Our plumber was glad about the extra order for the installation of the washbasins.

This should by no means sound know-it-all, but it was based on the feeling that there should be a craftsman in your residential area capable of hanging a washbasin on the wall. Drilling tiles can be tricky. Our craftsman brought three drill bits; he didn’t want a layperson like me telling him to start with a very small pilot hole and then increase the size........ he supposedly got some diamond drill bit or similar for a lot of money, which he then delivered. I ended up doing it myself using the pilot hole method...... so I am familiar with the "problem." Our tiles were said to be particularly bad....... I didn’t contradict him due to lack of hope for success.

Did you buy them from him, or were they your own?

I’m not really the one being addressed, but it doesn’t really matter. He could even write you a separate invoice for it. Surely in his life as a craftsman he often gets the order to do this or that. Who repairs the sink, for example, of the grandmother living alone, if not the plumber. With every task he gets paid for, he carries a responsibility; that’s why he calls himself a specialist in construction. You pay him separately for that, as if it were any other random construction site. Sorry, the guy is really weird. If he worries about warranty while getting paid at the same time, I would think about a career change if I were him. Just ask the owner..... that sounds like: customer threatens with order. Or you ask a carpenter or bricklayer, kitchen builder, electrician, or similar who still comes to you; I’m really stunned. Good luck!

The plumber was from our main contractor - washbasins and descaling then went directly through him - but we provided them.

Just throwing in our solution completely out of context. Old dresser (eBay Classifieds 20,-€) + sink 60 €, granite slab from the stonemason about 200,-€ including cutout, made to the sink measurements (they were used as cutting templates). Everything else is standard sizes regarding the pipes. Up to the hole in the wall/floor, it’s like Lego. Just connect suitable parts until the water flows where it’s supposed to go. In our case, a shallow siphon was the best solution.
