Dear forum, we have planned for barrier-free accessibility in our construction project and have therefore specifically planned alumat thresholds for the balcony doors. Now the flooring installer has left a large gap between the threshold and the floor (see photo) and claims that this is within the tolerance range. Do you have any ideas which DIN standard we can refer to against this? Unfortunately, our architect is letting us down.

What does the planning of the floor-to-ceiling balcony doors say about the floor structure and its individual heights (screed, insulation, adhesive, tiles)?

One could also object that the balcony doors are set too high. Who planned and (did not) supervise that?

Here are two brochures from Allumat for the magnetic thresholds. This shows roughly what they are supposed to look like. Otherwise, you can contact Allumat directly. The craftsmen must work as Allumat recommends and not confuse it with the other thresholds. How wide is the door opening and how much did it cost? For us, it was too expensive, so it is not included in our plan. The files are too large, you can give me your email address, I can send them by mail.

The first question to clarify is whether this is the responsibility of the floor layer. Because how should he manage to get out just under 1cm? Something seems to be not quite right either in the entire floor construction or in the installation height of the door. If one assumes, according to the picture, that it is parquet or laminate, the floor construction would have to be almost twice as thick to make it fit.

The floor came after the door and as fate would have it, the floor of the first door (10 parties) was almost flush. Our architect assumed it was obvious that then all would look like that. Since the floor layer took over the trade like that, he should have, in my understanding, raised concerns and then had the screed layer or himself do rework.

Hello Zizzi, I have the documents from Allumat and have also contacted support. Unfortunately, the description does not specify a measurement between the threshold and OFF, it only looks flush.
