Well... I have to be sure about every single component, after all, if it works out well, I want to live in the house for well over 50 years (we are in our late 20s). According to some people, after over 50 years you already reach the statistical life expectancy of wooden buildings. On the other hand, I wouldn't want to move into an 80s solid construction today either. With the [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung], a different topic, it is similar. Will the duct system last 50-70 years? Or the [WDVS]? On the other hand, monolithic walls also have their disadvantages...

There are houses that have stood for hundreds of years, wooden houses and stone houses. It is more a matter of quality than exclusively of the material.

Then you should – before you even think about building a house – pursue a degree in architecture, preferably complemented by structural engineering. Because if you continue as you present yourself here, even the most patient architect/site manager/general contractor will send you away; at the very least, they will ignore your calls. That is another misconception you seem to be under. With high probability, you will no longer be living in the house when you reach retirement age. If you are looking for something where you don’t have to do anything to it or perform maintenance after completion, you should look for a cave without electricity but with running water. How about the fact that the wood is not dried enough and is therefore still installed "wet"? The reason is, it always has to be cheaper and faster. I read this in a book about renovations and just wanted to throw it out there. Others who are familiar with this might be able to say more about it.

hello Bauexperte, why do you think that about no longer living there? Because every house becomes a renovation case after x years?

No, I don't think that Bauexperte means that the house can't withstand it. Rather, that one would already be living in a nursing home or a smaller apartment by then. Such a garden and a big house need to be maintained, which can be difficult in retirement.

I hope I haven't put words in your mouth, ?
