My oven also vents to the front, but sufficient ventilation must still be provided behind it. Check the specifications of your device manufacturer.

Hello everyone, if one side of the cabinet stands free, i.e. not against a wall or wall cabinet, you can also provide ventilation on the side with a grille. It should then be located in the upper third of the cabinet side. I have done this before, using a stainless steel perforated sheet or aluminum perforated sheet (possibly painted) as a grille substitute. You can also vary the length. Regards Mr. Rossi

This is about the "intake" of cold air, not the exhaust of warm air; clearly, there must be enough air behind it. Most kitchen manufacturers therefore place ovens on angle irons or at least shortened or recessed bases. There are different ventilation systems: some draw their fresh air from under the oven muff, as you can see when you open the door and look down there; others between the cabinet side wall and the oven's panel, where there are spacers behind the panel in the screw holes. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any manufacturer that still uses a ventilation grille in the baseboard as a must. In dual-channel ventilation, the cold air is guided through the oven door above the cooking chamber to the back, and in a second channel above that (dual channel) it is blown forward again between the door and the control panel. But this system also needs space and air behind it.

@Ikea-Expert,

then this is required according to the installation manual for your oven and MUST be complied with.
