Hello everyone,
definitely our most difficult topic in the house construction, the design of the slope facing the south side. (the attached sketch is in M1:100, the height points are shown in red, slope length completely approx. 20m with inlet and outlet).
After countless inspections, research, and discussions, the following options are available for possible materials:
1.) Slope flora stones: are cheap, doable as DIY but visually not at all our taste
2.) L-stones: through contacts to the nearby concrete plant within an acceptable price range, excavator/crane for setting and foundation preparation would also be partly doable as DIY, visually so-so
3.) Gabions: min. 1m thick and therefore a cost-wise absolute killer (>10k€, offer to follow), visually super chic and exactly our thing
4.) L-stones with gabions as a facade: L-stones as slope protection with narrow gabion (30cm) as a façade, hmm not seen or experienced so far
The next question would also be, at which point do you stop the slope? Where drawn or extend the slope to the southern property boundary to possibly ensure the enclosure with L-stones there right away. The look would then theoretically not matter, since we would not be looking at the L-stones but only the neighbor (house is still under shell construction). The disadvantage would then be that you need huge amounts of soil for backfilling. Up to 2m height at the property boundary would also be permit-free for us.
I am curious about your opinions J.
