25 degrees is a proper black ski slope. There’s no more to gain with a steeper gradient, and you’d probably have to catch it more as twice 2m. Nothing more can be done with own effort, and since it’s behind the house, you most likely have to carry out the terracing before the actual house construction so that you can still get to the back properly with heavy equipment.

Besides the soil survey, a building inquiry would certainly be helpful. You just have to see how much you want to invest beforehand, only to possibly not buy afterward. That’s insurance against nasty surprises, but at some point, you go too far in advance. However, I would definitely have conversations with the building authority.

It can happen that the existing house defines the building envelope on one edge and must be set back on another, whereby protection of the existing building can only of course apply to approved parts of the existing building. Also, completely far-fetched eaves height requirements or the like are to be expected. The preliminary building inquiry should of course also include terrain modeling. And expect to be able to deduct at best one Mark from the purchase price for every euro of additional expense compared to a virgin ideal plot.
