This is not uncommon, usually only confirmation of one's own opinion is sought. "Connections" with acquaintances, relatives, etc., by the way, have subsequently led to various "cooling-off phases" after the actual realization became apparent in practical operation ;-)

Thank you for the numerous pieces of information. So far, we have not changed the general substance, so I do not believe that approval would have been strictly necessary. Up to now, these are, so to speak, preparatory works. I can simply level and insulate my subfloor, can't I? Regarding the bank, I will inquire. I only asked here because I thought there would be a general regulation or standard things that the bank absolutely requires (regardless of which bank). Regarding funding, I inquired. There is funding for rural areas where you can get up to 30%. But that is not an option for us. The requirements were already so absurd from the outset that even with a 30% waiver, you would have paid more for the entire project.

That is absolutely no rarity; "waivers" or funding are not given for free, as many assume. Most of the time it is just a "band-aid" to somewhat cover the disproportionately high investment costs. However, one should always look at the overall context: investment, funding, operating costs. That is considerably more difficult (complex) than generally assumed. Sometimes funding does make sense, but basically not in every case. One should take a closer, more detailed look ;-)

As already mentioned, I have a carpenter as a friend and also a structural engineer among my acquaintances whom I ask. It is about the fact that I would have to hire an external structural engineer who costs quite a bit of money. If I can save that, I will do so. Structural engineers are by no means unnecessary, that is not what I meant. But if you actually don’t need one, it is something to consider.
