Hello Häuslebauer,

yes, unfortunately I think you can always expect that more will be added. I want to be able to estimate it as precisely as possible so that the costs don't overwhelm me afterwards. When you hear from other people who are building and say that their project ended up costing up to 100,000 euros more... I want to avoid that. But I think they also didn’t inform themselves properly beforehand. Of course, we could also borrow more from the bank, but you also want to maintain a certain standard of living (travel, car, etc.), so the money shouldn’t go only towards the house. Therefore, we set ourselves a limit... but unfortunately I realize that this limit has already been exceeded. Well, now we have to see...

Best regards Kati

Hello building expert,

thanks for the information. I will ask the city, as I have a contact there who can probably say to what extent the connections are meant. I’m curious.

By the way, we want to build in Datteln/Horneburg. The plot is already reserved (500m2). Of course, we should still buy before [1.10.2011]... let’s see if that works. Where do you work? And for which company?

Well, I have realized that more is coming our way than planned/expected. Tomorrow we will first hold a "family conference" – let’s see if everything still turns out well. However, I am already a bit shocked that it’s becoming so expensive

Regards Kati

Hi Kati,

it is certainly important to set limits for yourself, otherwise it gets out of hand, but you will never really be able to stick to them anyway.

Ours was originally at 200K. We have already exceeded that by 35K for the house alone, without incidental costs. The best thing is to take the maximum amount available, subtract 50K from it first and set that as the limit. Then save wherever possible, and in the end you will somehow end up around the original amount.

I currently have the same problem. My limit is also at the edge, without having built a garage and without having planned the garden around the house. But the list from [Bauexperte] is really very helpful, thank you. Ralph

Hello Kati,

In the Rhineland with a solid construction company and, depending on need, additionally with a creative architect; the name doesn’t matter, after all, I’m not here to acquire clients but to help as best as I can

As for 1.10.11, that could be tight; notaries are currently very busy

Kind regards
