Now honestly, does that thing look to you like it will last 20 years? And yes, it’s supposed to. I don’t drill holes in my facade to get another canopy after 3-5 years and drill more holes again. My grandpa does that to his allotment garden house, but not on a single-family house.

It’s all already stated! The forces acting on such a construction are considerable. My neighbor installed a canopy himself from a similar manufacturer. Now after 1 year, it’s partly detaching from the house wall. Besides, I assume you won’t find a craftsman who will install that thing with a warranty on his work.

I don’t assume that the thing is watertight at the wall when it rains nor between the panels. That means, in the worst case, you simply can’t stay sitting under it when it rains. Then the water runs down freely without a gutter at the front and over the years it will hollow out whatever is in front.

The distribution at KD also causes costs, even if you as a customer only buy the canopy without installation, it is partially cross-subsidized. You can see that with specialist retailers vs. pure online/direct senders.

Hello tolentino

At the beginning of last year, I was also ready to treat myself to a terrace roof.
8 x 3 meters. Attached to the house, with safety glass.
The offers ranged from 16,000 to 24,000 euros. Including assembly.
Through a friend I got in touch with a company that manufactures the profiles in Germany. They statically calculated the roof for me and cut and delivered the profiles precisely. I got the glass through a glazier who works with them. Costs: a total of just under 7,000 euros. I had to assemble it myself.
They also arrange installers. costs 1,600 euros.
And that is quality. It will outlive me.

Because they can. Quite simple.

But to support the good answer from :
Everything that concerns my house, I now choose
quality. Because he who buys cheap, buys twice. Speaking from experience!
If I put something in the back garden, then it is decoration.

Your fluttering thing may serve its purpose at the vegetable patch in the back, but in a way bolted to the house it reduces the value of the house.

And if after three years it is completely faded, the fabric worn out after just one year, the panels become dull or have not held the snow, then you have two unsightly holes in the wall, and the fun starts all over again.
But do what you want! You have already received the answers to your question on page 1.

leakage and snow load also apply.

Just ask a craftsman in the region. He will build you a roof made of wood / glass or metal / glass. It doesn't have to be much more expensive.

Well, if 700€ is the benchmark, then it will probably be difficult to have a tailor-made suit made by the craft. "Melanie" feels more like a "better" pavilion for the festival in terms of material than a terrace roof as you usually know it.

Guys, I'm a bit surprised how quickly the tone here turns "pissy" just because some opinions presented as given facts are being questioned.
I'm not even saying that I necessarily want to spend only 800 EUR.
I have simply experienced in other areas that you don’t have to spend that much more money to make functional purchases.
That many people spend a lot of money because they believe they are buying more performance with it, but in fact, this is not really the case, or the extra performance is much less than commonly thought. Unless you count the increase in status or performance.
For example, in audio electronics, clothes, cars, luxury goods (I can taste a difference between a 60 and a 250 EUR whisky, but it would never be worth 190 EUR to me).

You don’t always have to take questioning this so personally, but rather see it as a challenge to convince argumentatively with facts(!).
I am not questioning your decisions; I would rather like to know on what basis you made them.

Such reports of experience are definitely very nice and helpful.
Or also comparison offers and comparisons of the scope of performance.

I also take the notes about tightness or the missing gutter and snow loads as given now and accept them as fact; the thinner polycarbonate sheet is already evident from the descriptions. However, I would also be interested in what difference that makes.

Tailor-made suit is a nice analogy! Thanks.

I will probably ask myself the question again in a year, but thanks already for the contributions.

Best regards

Tolentino
