Is a painter's fleece different from a non-woven wallpaper?

Non-woven wallpaper is generally a wallpaper where the glue is applied to the wall, making it easier to work with and also easy to remove. Painter's fleece is usually a thin (often wider) wallpaper that is painted over afterwards (comparable to woodchip wallpaper), whereas non-woven wallpapers are printed, like the well-known ones.

We have now decided to commission a regional provider. In response to my tender: 190m2 living space Substrate: Q2 or smooth formwork Q3 filling, apply painter's fleece on ceilings and walls and paint opaquely in colors of category 1 there was an offer for just under €10,000 net – that is clearly cheaper.. Thanks for your tips!

Quick question: What is the advantage of Q3 plaster under the wallpaper? We also have Q2 in the contract and are considering wallpapering directly over the Q2 plaster. Is that not possible?

Q2 is suitable for wallpapers with medium texture, basically Raufaser, which then also masks some unevenness in the plaster. If it should be an almost smooth surface that is only covered with painter's fleece or just painted, it should be at least Q3 if not even Q4. Although that is relative, as some painters putty Q2 so well that it would pass as Q3.

So it's basically more of an "optical" thing? Like, if it's not super important to me that you can't see any unevenness at all? I was thinking of a somewhat textured non-woven wallpaper, but not woodchip.

In 2018, we paid about €9 /m² for the painter

loose sanding (so smooth, but not baby bottom smooth, the texture is still visible) of already very even Q2 plaster, primer, intermediate coat, final white coat, 3 walls colored.
Ceilings flatly plastered and also white.
(no wallpaper, no fleece, not even on the ceiling)

An uneven ceiling is among the ugliest things you can have in a new build. You only do something like that right once in your life. You don't save money there!
