Cost explosion even before it really gets started

Underestimating the excavation can certainly happen. Especially with the small quantity. It is not unusual. But I would have the cost estimate redone and not by the graduate. There will be even more costs added. Depending on the standard, the bathroom will probably cost about as much as a Golf. A friend of mine renovated his old bathroom completely new + [Dachfenster]. That was then a C-Class.

This is not a cost estimate, this is nonsense. €1200/m² for an extension is completely off. Likewise, €13k for a 9m double prefabricated garage with strip foundation. At least another 50% will be added to that.

Even I, as a layperson, felt that way. In the spring, I mentioned for the first time that it seemed little to me. He (the older architect) said that tiles would still be added and that would make it fit.

Excavation: Really, underestimating by a factor of 3 is normal? 10k euros difference? Isn't that easily calculable through the surveyor's products?

Well, we're not talking about 300m3. The surveyor miscalculates by one centimeter and the construction worker digs out additional unplanned material and voila. My neighbor had to pay an extra €16k for exactly that reason.

I am feeling really sick right now...

Based on the calculation, of course we applied for the loan - we also said several times that we didn't want to spend more than 300k euros (in addition to the purchase price of the house). Wouldn't it be the architect's job to say that what we want is not feasible? Then maybe they would have only built a single-story extension or something like that.

As I said, we knew it would quickly get more expensive. But that it was miscalculated from the start, of course not.
