We had the opposite example just now (at my parents'). A barn from the 70s with the original roof. Photovoltaics were requested and we thought that it certainly wouldn't fit or that the whole roof would have to be renewed. But the roofer had no concerns and the structural engineer also took another look. So, as is often the case (especially with existing buildings), "it depends."I would therefore prefer a completely new roof to the proposed solution. For example, we had tiles from the 80s on it, where the roofer was already concerned about anchoring the photovoltaic system.
