The thing with parents and child benefit for civil servants would also interest me. As far as I know, the maximum rate for civil servants is also 1800.- euros and ends after 12 months. That means if your wife takes care of the child for 2 years, the living expenses and ongoing costs must be covered with one salary...!

Correct, the maximum rate for civil servants during parental leave is 1800 euros.

Exactly... and after 12 months or, in the case of Elterngeld Plus, a maximum of 24 months, it is 0 here as well! Therefore, I do not understand the statement of the original poster....

Nothing more and nothing less.

I am always the big coward when it comes to high volumes :) In other words, the income should be very good. 6500 EUR net is already "nice," but for the average employee, it is too low for 600k+ loan. Now the big BUT: exception, dear civil servants... I consider that completely relaxed. Yes, even 800k loan or a million should be doable. Equity there, plot there. Inflation and taxpayers will handle the rest in the long term. In a second life... I would become a civil servant :)

Envious greetings, Steffen

Should one conclude from this that the most important criterion is a secure job, even if the financial burden is massively exaggerated? Hardly, and conversely, civil servants naturally also face an insurmountable salary ceiling. As a regular employee, one can (theoretically) continue to be promoted and thus enter salary ranges that are denied to a civil servant. Against this background, my opinion would be that the project presented here is certainly manageable, but I would still consider whether a few thousand here or there could be saved, because even a 250-square-meter house can certainly be described as spacious.
