I also had a very nice contact with ING, very personal. Unfortunately more expensive than the Commerzbank, and they demanded various documents from the tax advisor from my self-employed wife, which would have been complicated to obtain. Therefore Commerzbank..

When was that? I know ING as an impersonal, algorithm-driven bank.

That was in February. However, I have been a customer of ING for a very long time, and a large part of my equity is there. Perhaps that is why I received good customer treatment.

Yes, it may be that once you reach a certain account balance or turnover, you move into another category where people are still allowed to talk to the customers.

I find it interesting that so many people finance through Commerzbank here. In our area, Hypovereinsbank is unbeatable in terms of price. I can only highly recommend it as well. Nice support and so far everything has been very orderly and clearly structured.

If the bank goes bankrupt while you have your loan running, the loan will be resold by the insolvency administrator. It still has some value (remaining principal and interest). Sometimes this also happens without insolvency, these are the notorious mortgage-backed securities that caused the financial crisis for us in 2008. As the saying goes, "why should I properly check creditworthiness if the loan is going to be sold anyway" ;)
