Construction costs city villa - gable roof

quick rough assessment from your side:

To possibly save costs, is it worth switching from a city villa (hip or tent roof) with 2 full floors to a gable roof house?

- What can roughly be saved here, for example with the same/similar floor plan?
- 145 - 155m² living space with basement

We are currently considering whether we can make even bigger savings in our planning.

Our roof at 183m² would have been about €5000 cheaper with a gable roof than our current hipped roof.

Yep, I also estimated around €4,000 additional costs regarding the roof.

Are there additional savings since I don't have two full floors with the gable roof? Can you save more here than just the roof costs?

There are also various statements about this. One provider charges an extra fee for the gable roof, another for the hipped roof – I have heard or been offered both. Ultimately, I believe that when considering the total costs (including the additional costs for masonry with a gable roof), it is roughly the same. I have seen that as well.

If you of course do not only switch to a pitched roof but also cut into the upper floor, you save even more, but then have less utility. For 2 full floors plus pitched roof see above.

Frankly, I don’t understand that. Why wouldn’t you have 2 full floors with the gable roof? If not, you’re comparing apples and oranges.
